Windmills Children's Bereavement Charity

Windmills Charity focus on supporting Children and Young People when someone significant in their life receives a terminal diagnosis/prognosis from their Consultant team (whether this is due to illness or injury – including trauma, murder & suicide), through the acute dying process and up to several months after the death has occurred.

A team of enthusiastic volunteers travelled to Stoke-on-Trent to support a long-standing partner of the Foundation, Windmills. The charity, run in their spare time by two inspirational ICU nurses, supports children whose family members have received a terminal diagnosis or have sadly passed away.

Our volunteers helped to spruce up their new office space – a facility that will provide a welcoming, safe environment for children to visit, allowing Windmills to extend their support beyond hospital settings.

The funding from the Noel Sweeney Foundation allowed Windmills to deliver 96 additional hours of child facing / 1:1 support with a Specialist Nurse.

Thank you so much for today. It’s been a whirlwind and we are slowly getting our heads around everything that you guys have done for us today. Not only have you given us a beautiful space to work in, you have also given our kiddies an amazing space to enjoy whilst healing their hearts.
